We are very excited that our Laser Center is offering this new treatment to rejuvenate the skin. We use a very special laser for this and a new concept of treatment. Instead of treating the whole skin surface it treats a “polka-dot” pattern of small treatment zones - a “fraction” of the skin surface. But in that fraction it treats more deeply in the skin in very narrow columns. By treating only a fraction of the top surface of the skin, it leaves the rest, and especially the epidermis on top, uninjured so it can heal very quickly and very well over these narrow treatment zones. By doing this we can get the benefits of a deeper treatment but still be able to combine that with a very minimal downtime and fast recovery of only a few days. This is a major advance in skin rejuvenation and we are proud to offer this treatment here. This treatment has helped our patients in several ways: • decrease wrinkles and fine lines, including lip lines and crowsfeet • even pigmentation and lighten sunspots • smooth skin texture and minimize pores - many patients describe their skin as “glowing” • improve sun damage and decrease diffuse redness • tighten and firm the skin, with improvement over a period of months • helpful for deeper wrinkles and also for earlier problems to keep them from progressing • a great treatment for scars, including acne scars Since we offer Complete Skin Care we offer a wide spectrum of options to fit each person’s needs. This treatment is deeper than microdermabrasion , light chemical peels or even our Erbium Laser Peel, and therefore offers more immediate benefits. For those individuals with more skin damage we also offer Full Laser Skin Resurfacing, which treats all of the skin’s surface and is a deeper procedure, but has a longer healing time. This is an ideal treatment for problem areas and is wonderful for the face, but can also be used for the neck, chest and hands. It can be done at any time of the year. You’ll feel a stinging sensation as the areas are treated so we use anesthetics including topicals. You should expect the areas to be red for several days and then peeling and scaling for several more days and sometimes there are a few crusts. So the combination of little downtime and very good improvement makes this procedure one we are very happy to introduce to our area and our patients.
