Whether for hygienic or cosmetic reasons, the patient who is tired of temporary, often painful methods of removing unwanted hair may find laser hair removal a much better alternative.

Lasers emit highly focused, intense beams of light that are absorbed by dark pigment (melanin) in the hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface. These heat and damage the follicles. With each treatment, some of the follicles are destroyed while others are only damaged and will later regrow after a delay. Therefore, we use multiple treatments to gradually reduce the numbers of hairs in an area for Permanent Hair Removal. Most patients feel a slight sting like the snap of a rubber band although sensation varies with the area of the body. There may also be some temporary redness and swelling following the procedure.

As described above, there will be some regrowth of hair after each treatment, though it is usually finer and lighter than what was originally removed. Our experience with Laser Hair Removal has been very good. Most patients find with successive treatments there is less regrowth and much less hair and they are very happy.
